FAU#_106-2 Blog post 4: The 9/21 Earthquake Museum

FAU1_106-2 Blog post 4: The 9/21 Earthquake Museum
The 9/21 earthquake museum is located in Wufeng, Taichung, Taiwan. The purpose of the museum is… and it is dedicated to… The reason the local government decided to preserve some of the remains of the damage is to… Although some people might think it strange that the government would make a museum from some earthquake ruins, I think it’s kind of cool because it serves various purposes. Firstly, it helps to remind people of the importance of building strong structures capable of withstanding strong earthquakes. Secondly, it shows how people are able to come together and rebuild, even after a big crisis. Finally, it serves as a tourist attraction that helps bring thousands of visitors every year to the area,  which means money for the local economy.

The museum itself is quite large and contains 5 different themed galleries, Chelungpu Fault Gallery, Earthquake Engineering Hall, Image Gallery, Disaster Prevention Hall and the Reconstruction Records Hall. The Chelungpu Fault Gallery (talk about this gallery). Earthquake Engineering Hall (talk about this gallery). The Image Gallery (talk about this gallery). The Disaster Prevention Hall (talk about this gallery). Finally, there is the Reconstruction Records Hall (talk about this gallery).

Overall, I would certainly recommend visiting the museum for anyone interested in Taiwan history and a nice afternoon in the countryside.

GC&CL_106-2_Blog post 1: False Flag Terrorism and 9/11

False flag terrorism refers to acts of terror or terrorist operations that are carried out by one group (A) and blamed on another group (B), usually for the purpose of justifying a revenge attack on group A. For example, just before the US went full on into war with Vietnam, America claimed that the North Vietnamese had attack a US ship in the Gulf of Ton-kin. The US later admitted that the whole incident had never happened. Nevertheless, this was the main excuse used by the US to justify going to war with Vietnam, destroying the country and murdering millions of people. I use the word, murder because that’s what it was and that is what false flag operations do - they incorrectly justify murdering people in the name of retaliation.
As for 9/11, it was definitely false flag terrorism, and inside as well as an outside job carried out by organizations within the US government, private industry within the US as well as some foreign governments and their intelligence agencies. According to the official story, Osama Bin Laden and a group of his followers that used to live in caves in Afghanistan, traveled to the US, learned how to fly very small airplanes, bought passenger tickets for very large airplanes, took control of the airplanes and crashed them into tower World Trade center # 1, WTC # 2 and the Pentagon. According to the US government, fires in the towers caused the structures of the buildings to collapse. By the way, tower # 7 also collapsed even though nothing hit it. This one was a little more difficult to explain,n so the government just kind of ignored it in its report. For a long time, the majority of people just seemed to accept the official story because that’s what mainstream the media, like CNN, ABC, BBC, etc., insisted upon. However, more and more people got on the internet and shared ideas, more people began to question the official story. It was very difficult at first to question the government storey, because everybody knew that if the government had lied to us about 9/11, they had probably lied to us about a lot of other terrible things. How many wars were justified by false flag events; how many wars have been fought under false pretenses? Everyone knows deep down inside that, if our own government, the CIA and others had carried out 9/11, surely there must be so much more untruths that we have yet to uncover. This is why so many people still insist on believing their governments and the mainstream media. If they allow themselves to learn the truth, it will mean that much of what they have lived by has been a lie. Here’s what I think really happened with 9/11.

Hiking in Wufeng

Wufeng has a lot of places to go hiking. If you like to walk along the river, you can walk for a long time right next to the river. Also, if you like to hike in the mountains, there are lots of trails. One of my favorite walks starts at the Lin Family Mansion and goes all the way to the old Provincial government offices. From there, you can walk to Wulangu at the top of the hill. Wulangu is really cool here because there are many karaoke places where you can sing, drink something and have something to eat.

Redefining and Living the Word Responsibility_Freshman AU1 In-class Blog Post

When it comes to taking responsibility, I have not usually appreciated or enjoyed the idea. Even though, I realized that by taking responsibility for something like getting a project done or working with people, that I would also be gaining opportunity to learn, I also felt pressure having to do something. It’s like, one day I would look at my future and think, I’m free to do as I please. Then the next day (having to be responsible for something), I would experience myself as tied down, pressured and no longer free to do as I please. For example, earlier this week I received an email from my boss indicating that he wanted me to (take responsibility) for writing some more online classes, MOOCS. Immediately, I started feeling as though I were under pressure. I agreed to do the writing and now it’s my responsibility to get it done by early next month. I will; however, I would like to change myself in relation to the word responsibility - from an experience of being pressured and tied down to a living expression making the best of this opportunity by doing the best I am able, herein living to my fullest potential.

Dictionary definition of responsibility:
  • Responsibility: the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone.
My redefined definition of responsibility:
  • An opportunity to deal with, do for or do unto something or someone as best I am able in consideration of what is best for me and others.
How I plan to live my definition of responsibility

Firstly, in terms of writing these online lessons, I no longer view it as a burden or something that ties me down. Instead, I recognize being asked to write these new online lessons (and getting paid to do it) as an opportunity to do something I enjoy doing, writing, while also inputting a message into the world system. My message (in terms of artificial intelligence, the first MOOCS) is that … I will write about that. Furthermore, whenever the point or question of taking responsibility comes up, I commit to consider the opportunity associated with it. Herein, instead of experiencing myself as being tied down or having to do something, I will see myself as fulfilling that opportunity, which is a part of living to utmost potential.

SAU3 Blog post 4: How am I Preparing for a Big Earthquake

Although I do not often think about what to do in case of an emergency such as a very large earthquake, I do think it is important to have an earthquake plan. Therefore, in this blog post, I am going to write a very detailed earthquake plan. In other words, this is what I am going to do to incase there is a very, very large earthquake in my area.

First of all, before I go to bed every night, I make sure that I know where my wallet, phone, shoes and clothes are. Why? Because there may be broken glass on the floor. Therefore, I need my shoes and if there are no lights, I still need to find my clothes and put them on. As I live on the second floor, I would probably just run outside as quickly as possible.

Sometimes after a big earthquake, there is no water for a few days or even weeks. Therefor, I have enough drinking water in my apartment/dormitory for at least a week. Also, if the telephones are not working, I have already agreed with my family to meet them at/in…

Finally, if there is a really big earthquake with a lot of damage, I will...
